Miami Beach

Miami Beach is a city in the American state of Florida and is best known for its white beaches, unique art-deco heritage and a prominent Latin American influence. As a result of the Art Basel international art fair staged in Miami Beach, Basel has been cooperating with the city to further their mutual interests in culture, tourism, business development and education since 2002.

Basel and Miami Beach (USA) have enjoyed a close relationship for many years. After the Art Basel Miami Beach took place for the first time in 2002, a regular exchange began to take place between the two cities. The sister event, Art Basel in Florida, celebrated its tenth edition in December 2011. On the occasion of this anniversary the cooperation of these two art-loving cities was officially recognised by a twinning agreement. The purpose of this twinning is to increase the profile of Art Basel in Miami Beach.
