swissnex China: new research areas of common interest

The main goal of swissnex China is to establish a solid network of cooperation between Swiss and Chinese scholars serving as a base for bottom-up initiatives in the future. It will help Swiss parties to find partners in an environment that is still not well known in Switzerland, host them for short-term stays and provide facilities for workshops and seminars. swissnex China intends to explore new (interdisciplinary) research areas of common interest. In addition, it plans to play an active role in bridging science to other areas of society, specifically the arts.

As Basel’s partnership with the city of Shanghai pursues similar goals, swissnex China is the local address for Swiss people interested in an exchange stay or in starting a project there.

swissnex is a network of currently five science and technology outposts in priority countries for bilateral cooperation. Its mission is to strengthen Switzerland’s excellence by setting up and maintaining a dense network of contacts with universities, research institutions, companies and other organizations in the host region and in Switzerland, as well as by supporting Swiss scientists in the host regions. swissnex gives consideration to all scientific and technological domains as well as particular attention to integrated and cross-disciplinary approaches in the domains of education, research, technology and innovation, economy and the arts.
